In many states, recruiters have to work hard to meet monthly quotas set by the Marine Corps, so they spend much of their time in Marine Corps recruiting schools learning about how to combat the resistance to considering the military. In some states, such as Wisconsin, however, this is proving to no longer be the case.

Data from a recent Department of Public Instruction study shows that more Wisconsin public high school students are planning to join the Marine Corps today is the highest it's been in this decade, even in 2001 and 2002, following the September 11 attacks. In June, about 100 protesters rallied in support of removing recruiting from public schools.
